Ιστορικές πρωτιές στα Emmys: «Watchmen», «Succession» και «Schitt's Creek» οι μεγάλοι νικητές

Who watches the Watchmen? Σίγουρα οι ψηφοφόροι των Εmmys!

Η 72η Τελετή Απονομής των βραβείων Emmys πραγματοποιήθηκε με virtual λάμψη, δαφνοστεφανώνοντας εξ αποστάσεως τηλεοπτικές σειρές που ξεχώρισαν. To τολμηρό, φιλόδοξο και κοινωνικά επίκαιρο «Watchmen» του Ντέιμον Λίντελοφ κέρδισε τα περισσότερα βραβεία συνολικά (11) και έγινε η πρώτη σειρά που βασίζεται σε κόμικ με Emmy Καλύτερης Μίνι-Σειράς. Στις δίκαιες επιβραβεύσεις των «Watchmen» συμπεριλαμβάνονται τα Emmys ερμηνείας για τους πρωταγωνιστές της Ρετζίνα Κινγκ («Αν η Οδός Μπιλ Μπορούσε να Μιλήσει») και Γιαχία Αμπντούλ-Ματίν Β', Σεναρίου και Μουσικής για τους Τρεντ Ρέζνορ και Άτικους Ρος.

Η κωμική σειρά «Schitt’s Creek» του μικρού δικτύου Pop TV κέρδισε τα σημαντικότερα Emmys της κατηγορίας και πέτυχε επίσης μία ιστορική πρωτιά, αφού απέσπασε και τα τέσσερα Emmys ερμηνείας (κα΄τι που δεν έχει καταφέρει ποτέ ούτε δραματική σειρά), ενώ το «Succession» του ΗΒΟ έφυγε νικήτής στις μεγάλες κατηγορίες Δράματος με νίκες στις κατηγορίες Καλύτερης Σειράς, Α' Αντρικού (Τζέρεμι Στρονγκ), Σεναρίου και Σκηνοθεσίας.

Η Ζεντάγια, που περιμένουμε να την δούμε μέσα στην χρονιά στο «Dune» του Ντενί Βιλνέβ, κέρδισε το Emmy Α' Γυναικείου (Δράμα) για το «Euphoria» απέναντι στις Τζένιφερ Άνιστον («The Morning Show»), Λόρα Λίνεϊ («Ozark»), Ολίβια Κόλμαν («The Crown»), Σάντρα Ο («Killing Eve») και έγινε η νεαρότερη ηθοποιός που κερδίζει το συγκεκριμένο βραβείο, ο Έντι Μέρφι κέρδισε το πρώτο Emmy της καριέρας του ως καλεσμένος του Saturday Night Live, ο Μπίλι Κράνταπ (ο οποίος είχε υποδυθεί στο κινηματογραφικό «Watchmen» τον Dr. Manhattan) έφυγε με το Emmy Β' Αντρικού για το «The Morning Show» της Apple TV+, το διαγαλαξιακό «The Mandalorian» κέρδισε συνολικά 7 Emmys σε τεχνικές κατηγορίες (μεταξύ των οποίων ένα βραβείο για την εξαιρετική, πρωτότυπη μουσική του οσκαρούχου Λούντβικ Γκόρανσον) και το επαναστατικό reality «RuPaul’s Drag Race» κατέκτησε το Emmy για τρίτη συνεχή χρονιά.

Η μάχη ΗΒΟ - Netflix έληξε με νικητή το συνδρομητικό δίκτυο. Παρά το εντυπωσιακό νούμερο των 160 συνολικών υποψηφιοτήτων του Netflix, τελικά το HBO επικράτησε συνολικά σε 30 κατηγορίες (από τις 107 υποψηφιότητες), ενώ οι σειρές του Netflix απέσπασαν 21 βραβεία.
